I have been a Blue Mountains resident and Greens party member for nearly 25 years. I am an active community member involved in wide range of volunteer roles. A dad to two adult daughters, I work tirelessly to help run school, music and community festivals in the upper Blue Mountains. I have a varied professional background as a secondary teacher, outdoor education and recreation guide, and an environmental campaigner.
Since 1999 I have served as a State Emergency Service field team member, and remain an active participant in my local unit. Following the devastating 2013 fire season I joined the Hazelbrook Rural Fire Service. I continue to serve as an Advanced Firefighter and have gained extensive experience during the 2019/20 fires and am now training to become a crew leader. As an experienced Search and Rescue team member, I am always on call to participate in searches with both agencies.
I was first elected to the Blue Mountain City Council in 2016 in Ward 2, covering the mid-mountains. Among my most significant achievements for the city are the early declaration of a Climate Emergency (second equal NSW Council), signing on to the Climate Council’s Cities Power Partnership, and encouraging support for the adoption of the ’Rights of Nature‘ framework. I am committed to working with the Green Team of Blue Mountains Greens Councillors as collaborative and responsible members of the City Council to build on these initiatives and implement tangible responses to the climate emergency.
