The Greens have announced human rights lawyer, engineer and former merchant banker Kingsley Liu as their candidate for the Federal seat of Macquarie.
Hi, I’m Kingsley and I’m standing up for action to effectively protect your future.
Australian politics needs to go beyond the major parties who have failed to bring about decent policies and perform properly over many decades of dysfunction. We, the Greens, are committed to a democracy that works for everyone, not just a privileged few.
I was born in Australian to Chinese immigrant parents and trained in engineering and law. The Blue Mountains is my home. I work in a wide arc from CBD to regional NSW.
I run my own law firm to litigate for disadvantaged persons. At court I have run human rights cases from the Christmas Island boat tragedy, clerical abuse victims, and minority organisations to take on government, institutions and big businesses. I also organise innovative developments of renewable wind energy for local communities in the Central West.
My current work is on the rights of nature to achieve alternative legal status that protects our waterways, our mountains and national parks.
Together, we can:
Tackle climate change by rapidly transitioning to publicly owned renewable energy; Fund world class public schools, hospitals, public transport and social services; Protect our World Heritage environment; Stop the raising of the Warragamba Dam; Restore integrity to politics and end dirty donations; Build high speed rail as the national transport infrastructure; and Dump Western Sydney Airport!
With your support, I can ensure our diverse, progressive, and caring community will be fully represented and I will stand up for what is right, and what is fair.
The Greens care about the planet. We care about people. We are not beholden to big corporate donors.
The Greens are unequivocal in saying no more coal power stations, no more coal mines. Australia must invest in clean energy. Our policy is for 100 percent renewables by 2030.
There is no reason the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury could not be powered entirely by renewable energy using current technology.
The Greens are the only party that oppose the Adani coal mine “the death knell” for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
It will add 4.6 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere and risk damaging the aquifers of the Great Artesian Basin. It is planetary vandalism.”
Environmental policy has been matched by bad social and economic policy.
Australia now rates in the bottom third of OECD countries for wealth inequality.
This has been growing consistently for two decades.
The Greens are committed to an equitable society in which you don’t need pots of money to be healthy and well-educated.
We need a Medicare system that includes dental care and a mental health net with preventative measures through our social services.
Vote 1 Greens for a democracy that works for everyone, not just a privileged few.
